If you’re gaining an amazing future Mother- in- law, check out these ways you can make her feel extra special on the wedding day.
We always hear about the big role from the father of the bride, but the mother/son bond runs deep. Whle it is YOUR special day, here are a few ways to make it a day to remember for your future MIL, too!
1.) Ask about her wedding – Was there anything special she did that you liked and can incorporate it into your night, or was there anything she wished she would have done?
2.) Every one loves going dress shopping with the bride! Create a special shopping day for the Mother’s dresses, too!
3.) Ask his mom if she wants to have her hair and makeup done. If she doesn’t, invite her to hang out with the ladies any way.
4.) Have the groom give her a special gift before, during, or after the ceremony. The Mother – Son dance is a great opportunity to play her favorite song.
5.) Thank her for raising the man you get to love.
This impactful note from Alyssa Kinchen Becnel reminded us of the deep bond Mothers and sons share.
Mommas,
Love him while you are still first. Kiss his sweet baby face and linger in those lanky teenage hugs. Drive him to school even when he is grumpy and doesn’t say a word to you. Listen when he needs to vent and blow off steam. Love on his friends. Bring the Motrin to school for the 100 thousandth time. He may have a headache OR he may just want to get out of class and chat with you for a minute. Sit next to his hospital bed even though he screwed up. Soak up every minute under those Friday night lights. Love him, forgive him and forgive yourself for the things you didn’t get right. Because one day, you will give him away…. You will stand and watch him give his heart to the love of his life. You will dance and he will say the sweetest things about who he has become because of you. He will hug you tight and it will feel a little bit like a goodbye. You will become his 2nd best girl and it will be so dang HARD.
How did you incorporate the Mother of the Groom into your wedding day?
