Looking for a new destination for a long weekend getaway with the girls? Delicious food, cocktails galore, incredible shopping, and the beach – what more could a girl ask for on a trip?! Charleston, South Carolina is pristine, with many different spots around the city to explore. Break up your trip by exploring a different part of the city each day!
We stayed in an Airbnb in Mount Pleasant – 25 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from downtown Charleston, 1 mile from Shem Creek, and 9 minutes from Sullivan’s Island. Most of Charleston is very walkable + bike friendly, so you can easily uber or walk everywhere you want to go.
We spent our first day exploring and walking around Mount Pleasant. We stopped at boutiques, the grocery store + liquor store all while venturing around the city. Then we went to Shem Creek for the afternoon – what a beautiful place! All of the restaurants in Shem Creek are right on the water. We went to Sunsets for lunch and had a delicious meal while overlooking Shem Creek, which empties into the Charleston Harbor. The highlight was seeing a dolphin swim right by us! Then we walked around and popped into Water’s Edge for an incredibly cheap happy hour and early dinner. We went to the Dan + Shay concert that night, so needed to grab something on the earlier side!
We spent our second day in Downtown Charleston. We started off our day with lunch + espresso martini’s at Big John’s Tavern. We highly recommend both the burger and espresso martini! Then walked around the city stopping for cocktails at various places on our way to different sites. Rainbow Row was of course a must see! We grabbed cocktails at The Rooftop, which is the #1 rooftop bar in Charleston, and then went to Kings Street for some shopping! Citrus Club is a very popular cocktail bar on top of The Dewberry hotel. We got drinks + apps there while enjoying the spectacular views! We ended our night with a seafood dinner on the water at Fleet Landing.
For our third day, we headed to Sullivan’s Island for a beach day! We started with brunch at The Obstinate Daughter, then enjoyed the beach for most of the day. After the beach, we walked around the town and stopped at Mex 1 for margaritas and chips + queso! For our last night, we ended up finding a hidden gem of a restaurant that was right on the water in Mount Pleasant called The Wreck. It had a hole in the wall feel, but absolutely delicious with a unique outdoor seating area + bar in the middle of a bunch of boats. The food was insanely fresh.
We loved every bit of Charleston and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend putting it on your list to visit of destinations if you haven’t been!
